What happens when every day feels like a chore? When you can’t bring yourself to pinpoint one moment of happiness in your days. When every day feels like you’re simply going through the motions and you look back and can’t figure out when you had a genuine smile instead of the fake one that’s constantly plastered on your face to stop others from asking questions.
I think the feeling of being unfulfilled often comes from when we go about our days without being present or doing things for ourselves. Whether it be eating the food that we like, taking care of our bodies, putting time into doing things that we’re passionate about or even just spending time with the people we care about.
I’ve found that we’re so caught up in the whole ‘busy-ness’ of life. The culture of the hustle, work and constantly being productive and showing people how much fun we’re having is taking over us. We get stuck going through the motions of doing all these things but are we even really enjoying any of these things? When was the last time you were truly present in the moment and felt your heart being fulfilled and your cheeks hurt from the smile that you couldn’t contain on your face?
For me, it’s been a while. But I’m starting to get back to it. Sometimes all it takes is the push from someone and to reflect back on your life and think about what made the little kid in you happy? What did you enjoy doing as a child that you gave up when you had to go to school or work?
I feel that once you reconnect with those things that used to bring you joy or passion, you’ll start to feel more fulfilled with your life again.
